Macaframa SF Premiere

I just updated my blog - gave it a new name and new address.  Also if you'll notice, I put a label on the banner, one of things to cross off the to-do list from my last posting, oh and put a check next to posting weekly (Done & Done).

So the description reads that this blog is a an amateur look at life, pop culture and the media, behind a juicy moustacheo - I'm paraphrasing but that's the gist of it.  So now to address the title of today's blog.

I guess you could file this post under the life category
Macaframa is one of those track bike crews based out of SF, much like MASH, that is putting out a documentary film about riding the mean streets of San Francisco.  From those who were there at the Vegas premiere, the word is that its pretty damn good.

Now there's enough amateur track bike videos to fill a dumpster in you favorite city just search fixed gear on YouTube but like MASH, Macaframa gets it right.  I mean common just watch the preview clips.

Well along with tonights premiere at the Victoria Theater is an alleycat, a fixed gear race that gets its roots from the rigors of the bicycle messenger world, as a prelude to the premiere.

Info and directions about the alleycat are on the Maca website.  A bunch of guys from SJ Fixed, San Jose's own version of Macaframa, but not as organized, is planning to Caltrain it up to the City for tonights festivities.

Why am I here posting and not on the train as I write this??  Because I just got my bike in working order not 2 days ago and it still has problems with the breaks chattering, BLAH.  This and the fact that I have no hill bombing experience in SF whatsoever = a very large a hospital bill and thoroughly drained skull - why do we need so much fluid in that sucker anyway?

But I'm getting onto a tangent so I'll stop right there about the great mysteries of the human anatomy.

So just to recap...
  1. Macaframa premiere tonight
  2. I'm trying to get work done
  3. Glad to have my bike back
  4. and skulls shouldn't have that much brain fluid

Just a warm up

We'll since the last post got my blogging juices flowing I guess I can follow up with another one...

About the Banner
I'm sure most of us recognize some of the background cells, edvard (his friends call him eddy) munch's scream, michaelangelo's adam, mona lisa makes an appearance, and loutrec(sp?). wish i could've gotten frida up there...maybe in the rehash.
In the foreground you might notice some funny lookin' kids. These are the garbage pale kids. For those of you remember the cabbage patch kids, these are what ozzy's kids got to play with. The trading cards are way better..i'll see if I can pry myself from the keyboard by the end of this blog - I've got some images stored on my USB.
So its basically a juxtaposition, in case you haven't already figured that out- but I have faith in you readers, of fine art and these trashy (ha ha i get it) trading cards. IDK I just thought it would look cool, maybe attract/keep some readership.
8 minutes later...
ok kids let me have a chance to pick out the good ones
Look familiar?

The crazy cast...
the rest had "dr. jekyls" like the one above
but I was too lazy - these are the "mr. hydes" in one neat package

One of my favies...
autographed too,
i think by one of the misfits

International acclaim!

OverDue UpDate

Sorry for the delay, I've been trying to figure out what direction this blog should be um, directed in. I'm zeroing in on either commentary on new media OR commentary on media/society -pop culture in general. Leaning towards the latter, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Also when I get around to it i'll have the rest of my class linked up to this page so you can check out what they have to say. There's some pretty interesting stuff on there I have to admit.

Oh yeah, I finally got the banner posted (thanks tanya!). Hashed this puppy out last week. Thinking about tweakin' it just a little bit so you guys can see the final product in the next week or so.

And yeah, I'm going to try and make it a habbit to post fairly regularly, i.e. at least once a week.

Have a great weekend, world.
